    Notes

    • During the WWII Charles was stationed in the Orkneys and witnessed the sinking of the HMS Royal Oak at Scapa Flo. According to Jack, Charles marriage to Sybil was not a very happy time. He also told me that Charles used to work with Jack at the same Painting and Decorating Company and one day when climbing down from a step ladder (over the top and down the back side) Charles slipped and fell onto the ground on his back. Shortly after that Charles complained of severe pains and upon examination he was diagnosed with Cancer, from which Charles died in a very short time.
